How many of you have read the article in “All the Year Round” edited by Charles Dickens about a trip to Mammoth Cave from 1861? The article was written anonymously at the time, but was really written by George Walter Thornbury. I am wondering if anyone knows the identity of the guide? Was this a nickname? Was it someone employed temporarily at the cave? It is a question I have not been able to answer.
