The Unboxing of the GoPro Hero 4 Black

The Unboxing of the GoPro Hero 4 Black

Today my new GoPro Hero 4 black arrived. I waited until this evening to unbox it.  It is something I have thought about getting for a long time, and with the new model becoming available I bit the bullet and preordered one from B&H.  I have attached at the bottom of this post the specs from a website that gives specifics of the model.  Why did I buy it at this time?  That is hard to answer.  The best one I can give is that after years of thinking about it, this model finally crossed some nebulous threshold of quality at the right price to let me take that step.  It has 4K capability, 1080 at 120 fps, and a number of features that looked good.  It was no one thing however that made me chose to buy at this time.

There are many other action cameras out there and as I read about them on various forums, each has their supporters and detractors.  To be honest I am sure any of them would do a great job.  At this point for me, the GoPro had the best specs for the price and is the most popular brand. There are many more third part accessories available for GoPro than for other brand products.

I purchased the adventure set, and extra battery, and the remote device.  At this point I have not opened the remote.  I am not sure if I want to go with it of opt for an android app.  I am leaning toward returning the remote and going with the app.  At the moment I don’t have a tablet or adequate smart phone, but could buy a low end tablet for the same price as the remote to control the GoPro.   I won’t open the remote package until I decide.
